Ladies and Gents, I’m Going to Austin Peay

I’m gonna’ be honest. Part of me was slightly unbelieving that I was ever going to get out of Columbia State Community College and move on to a four-year university to complete my BA. Sure, I’ve been doing really well in school and have great hopes for myself. But there’s still this little part of me that says, “Girl, you’re just a kid. College is too big and scary for you to handle. Go get your alley ready.”

But yesterday was orientation. I registered for classes. I got an official Austin Peay t-shirt. I got my student ID. My dad got an AP shirt and visor. It’s funny, but seeing that visor on his head is what made it finally sink in.

I’m going to Austin Peay, and I’m freaking proud to be a Governor.
